Bloodline / Heritage:
Half-blood, Scottish. Avery's mother was a witch who died during the first war. Her father, a muggle, terrified for his own life and that of his daughter's, saw no point in keeping contact with any other wizards or witches, and decided to raise his daughter the muggle way.

Personal History: Having lived in the muggle world since she was three, Avery knew nothing about the magical side of herself. She sometimes blew a lightbulb or two when she was furious or missing her mother too much, but she never paid much attention to those incidents. Her father wanted to keep her as far away as possible from the Wizarding world, uncertain of what will happen if she did return. However, when the letter from Hogwarts came, she was dumbfounded. Her father let her choose, and now that she knew the truth, knowing that her mother had died in the hands of Death Eaters and not some cancer as she had been made to believe, she wanted to go back there and avenge her mother's death. The whereabouts of her mother's parents are unknown, and believed to be dead. She has no uncles or aunts, as her mother was an only child.

Her father works for an electrical company, while her mother was a Ministry of Magic employee who worked in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office.

Avery has no other siblings.

Personality: She is a quiet girl who keeps mostly to herself, but has a very clear understanding of her own beliefs. She is friendly when one manages to get close to her, and is very caring to those around her. Though she takes time to open up to others, once she has decided that they are worth getting to know, she can let herself get rather comfortable around them. At the same time, she likes to ensure that those around her are as comfortable as possible, so she might end up trying very hard to please others. She is sweet and generous, and always tries to find time for others, especially those who she thinks, need her help. Being around children brings a kind of satisfaction to her that she doesn't quite understand, but that also means that she can act as a big sister figure to them.

Part of her introverted personality comes from thinking that others may not be able to accept her for who she is. Avery is definitely not the most confident person around. Her friends, however, would be happy to know that Avery is fiercely loyal to those she cares about, especially her father. She owls him occasionally, telling him everything about her life and makes sure he is not left out of everything, for the two of them are incredibly close.

She can be quite stubborn and may refuse to listen to others when they try to tell her that she is wrong. She is, however, willing to listen to suggestions, even if she disagrees with them. In time, she would learn to incooperate whatever advice or suggestions that others give her into her own actions.

Avery is extremely hardworking, and at times this scares even herself. When she set her mind on something, she made sure it's done perfectly. However since coming to Hogwarts, she has learnt to loosen up a little and enjoy life. This doesn't mean she has forgotten her own history though. She knew that if she wanted revenge on those who killed her mother, she needs the help of others.

She is not particularly interested in boys, although her classic pretty face has attracted a bit of attention from the opposite sex. However, when Avery does like a boy, it means she is really serious about him. Given her low self-esteem, however, she may question herself and let her thoughts get the better of her, often reasoning too much and not following her heart.

Physical Description: Avery has wavy brown hair which she loves to leave down. She has bangs and even though her father had constantly nagged her about it, saying that it shields her eyes too much, she has been keeping like that since she was eight. Her eyes are warm brown and quite expressive. She has an oval face with freckles across her nose that she sometimes wished weren't there.

Avery is of average height for girls her age, standing at about 5'4", and is of medium build. She prefers soft colours and is always seen wearing something pastel. She prefers comfortable sneakers and sandals to heels, and can be somewhat feminine.

As soon as the professor gave them the green light to leave, Avery quickly gathered her quills, parchment and books and arranged them neatly in her bag. All around her the other students were rushing off to the Great Hall for lunch period, but she would not be joining them. Her stomach growling, she walked out of the classroom and headed towards the other direction from the rest of her classmates, walking purposefully towards the library. She needed to know more about what is going on around her, and she had to start from the very beginning. For the time being, she knew nothing was more reliable than the facts recorded in the books.

Looking into her bag, she found the toast she had saved during breakfast. It was soft and a little wet from all that condensation, but it was something to keep her from hunger until dinner time comes.

Hobbies and talents: Focused (she will do whatever she sets her mind to), reading all types of books.
Weaknesses: Stubborn, has low self-esteem, hard to open up to others, very picky about the food she eats.
Best subjects: Charms and Muggle Studies
Worst subjects: Divination
Broom: When Avery's father brought her to Diagon Alley to get her Hogwarts supplies, he decided to surprise her with a Nimbus 2000. Not the best, but she was contented.
